Off-the-shelf software makes you work its way. When a business has an established way of doing things that works, it is often cheaper to build the tool than to retrain everyone around a subscription that nearly fits. I build these to run on a phone as well as a desk, because most of the people using them are not sitting at a desk.

Common questions
Is this not going to be more expensive than an off-the-shelf tool?
Higher up front, usually lower over a few years, because there is no per-user monthly fee. I will do that sum with you honestly before you commit — sometimes the off-the-shelf tool genuinely is the right answer and I will say so.
What if I want to change it later?
That is normal and expected. Changes are quoted as they come up, and you are not locked into me — the code is yours.
